The Transition of Johnny Swift

The Transition of Johnny Swift

Before the accident … Frank Brazier has the perfect life. A contract for a Formula 1 team. A supportive family. A stunning girlfriend. On the surface, everything is great, but Frank keeps a secret. On race days, Shadow-man visits. He sits on the nose cone of Frank’s car, or floats above the grandstand, waving, taunting, distracting, eating away at his concentration. An accident in the making.

After the accident … Frank starts hearing voices. Strange voices. Impossible voices. He’s losing his grip on reality and Paula, his sister, is dying. Doctors say she is brain dead. They want to pull the plug, but Frank knows she’s still in there, fighting. He can hear her calls.

One day later … Shadow-man speaks. He says Frank can save Paula, but can Frank pay the price?

What Reviewers Say About
The Transition of Johnny Swift

“This is one humdinger of a story, and right up until the end… and even after you close the book… you won’t be able to make up your mind whether the events are figments, fiction, reality or some combo thereof.

You totally HAVE to read this. Really, you do.”
– Tom Phoghat Sobieski

“Kerry J Donovan cleverly takes the reader from a championship-winning, romance-kindling high, to the spectacularly sensory and visceral realism of a horrifying train crash. But that, as they say, is just the beginning.

This book really has something for everyone, and is an intelligent and compelling read. It’s a fascinating trip into the blurry line between science-based fiction, psychological thriller, and the paranormal.”
– Michaela Miles

“Introducing a fresh new voice in British fiction. This clever paranormal tale will make you question everything… and eagerly await the sequel. As you can tell, I loved it.”
– Stacey Teale, former editor of the Daily Mail Online, #1 newspaper website in the world.

“Kerry J Donovan is a gifted wordsmith with a distinctive voice you won’t soon forget.”
– David Corbett, award-winning author of The Art of Character.

“This Book is a masterclass in characterisation. Frank Brazier – is exceptionally vivid and beautifully realised. I was absolutely absorbed.”

“I read Johnny Swift binge-fully and compulsively. Donovan combines enough mystery, hope, and tragedy to lose sleep over.”
– Matt Demers, author of Ronda Rousey – The Biography.
