About Kerry J Donovan

#1 Amazon bestselling author with the US-based Lucky Shores thriller series and the Ryan Kaine action thrillers, and creator of the popular DCI Jones Casebook series of crime novels, Kerry J Donovan was born in Dublin. A citizen of the world, he currently lives in a stone cottage in the heart of rural Brittany, which he took five years to renovate with his own gnarled and calloused hands. The cottage is a pet-free zone (apart from the field mice, moles, and a family of red squirrels). He has three children and four grandchildren, all of whom live in England. An absentee granddad, Kerry is hugely thankful for the modern miracle of video calling.

Death, Lies, and Duct Tape

Death, Lies, and Duct Tape Hi there, Well, in Brittany, we're edging into spring and as usual, the weather can't make up its mind what to do--sunny and almost warm one minute, and perishing cold or wet the next. The joys of a maritime climate! That being said, I don't mind the cold too much as I love to snuggle up warm and cosy and spend the long, dark nights reading. And that's the main point of this bulletin. I'm delighted to announce that my novel, The DCI Jones Casebook: Sean Freeman, is part of [...]

The Summer Job ~ Not a Christmas Story

The Summer Job – Not a Christmas Story by Kerry J Donovan © Dec 2015   Pure Whimsy   The summer sun flared through the window, highlighting the dust hanging in the stifling air. The fifty-something woman behind the desk smiled without mirth and waved him into the applicant’s chair. “Take a seat please, Mr St Nicholas.” Graham St Nicholas obliged. Never let anyone say he wasn’t an obliging fellow. The woman, Gladys Emmanuel according to the rectangular nameplate atop her workstation, paused for a moment before dropping a hand into an open drawer. She retrieved a thick sheaf of [...]

Book Review ~ Bone Maker by DF Bailey

Bone Maker by DF Bailey This is a great mystery thriller in the classic, fast-paced ‘investigative reporter’ genre. Well written in an easy style with believable characters and an interesting plot, Bone Maker has all the elements needed to make it well worth the reader’s time and money. Will Finch, a dogged reporter with a tragic past, is sent to the sticks to write the story of the apparent accidental death of a federal witness in a fraud case. He's been mauled by a black bear of all things (the victim, I mean, not Will). I say ‘apparent [...]

Book Review ~ A Secondhand Life by Pamela Crane

A Secondhand Life by Pamela Crane This novel asks some intriguing questions. Who has been killing teenage girls for nigh on twenty years? What links the killings? When she was twelve years old, Mia Germaine was involved in an accident that caused the death of her father. In the accident, Mia's heart was damaged and she receiving a transplant from the first victim of [...]

Book review ~ Dark Space by Jasper T Scott

Dark Space by Jasper T Scott Dark space is a fair-to-middling space opera with a tried and tested plot that hardly breaks any new ground. The human race is defeated by alien invaders. A small band of survivors hide in an uncharted part of the galaxy (Dark Space) and try to rebuild their civilisation. Mr Scott ups the ante by introducing a plucky independent pilot, Ethan Ortane, who is forced by an unscrupulous villain to infiltrate the defence forces and destroy the only battle cruiser capable of defending Dark Space from the evil aliens. Ethan wears [...]

Reader Reviews

  • Kerry J. Donovan is a gifted wordsmith with a distinctive voice you won’t soon forget. David Corbett
Award-winning author of 'The Art of Character'
  • If you read a lot as I do, you get jaded after awhile and tire of similar plots from different authors and long for something to really grab your attention and ruin your social life because you can’t stop reading. For the first time in years, that very thing happened when I bought “The DCI Jones Casebook Box Set”. Ben
